Marijuana Business Daily is seeking an innovative senior leader of its events division to take charge of the MJBizCon family of conferences and tradeshows, which are strictly B2B events with revenues derived roughly equally from exhibitors/sponsors and paid registrations.  MJBizCon’s award-winning events have been recognized by Trade Show Executive, Trade Show Network News, CNBC, NPR, and many more.

You'll be based in our Denver office and receive a competitive salary, paid time off, 401(k) and health benefits. As seen in Inc. Magazine, Forbes and the Wall Street Journal, we are a highly professional, award-winning, fast-growing company.

This position reports directly to the CEO and includes a seat at the strategic management team table as well as full oversight and P/L responsibility for multimillion dollar events and reporting/forecasting.

Your experience must include bottom line responsibility for fast-growing B2B conferences with a minimum of $10 million in revenues. Experience running for-profit shows with 10,000+ attendees as well as niche events is required. Candidates who have been involved in event launches/relaunches, international events, and M&A’s are strongly preferred.

You’ll head a department responsible for producing (currently) three large trade shows per year – one in Las Vegas, one in New Orleans and one outside the US. Plus, you will develop and produce profitable niche events such as high-end leadership summits and hosted buyer events – with more to be developed as the industry continues to mature. You will supervise an initial team of five including operations and content programmers. You will also maintain strong vendor relations (and negotiate contracts with) conference centers and hotels, Freeman, AV contractors and other major trade show suppliers.

We are a highly collaborative and entrepreneurial business with a “one team” approach, organized to not just maintain but expand our existing leadership position. You’ll work closely with your fellow directors in editorial, marketing, sales, finance and IT to create top-notch event experiences for the maximum business benefit of attendees and exhibitors, while also delivering growth in both revenue and profits in an extremely competitive and fast-changing marketplace. You must also be able to handle continual growth (our shows have grown steadily by double digits per year since 2012) and be flexible regarding market and format changes.

The perfect candidate will be equally strong in event execution and innovation. Your role will be THE point person for events within the business, backed by an exceptional editorial brand. You will also have experience running an event as a business where the bottom line truly matters.

Travel within and outside the U.S. is required.

To apply, please complete the form below. Should you be offered a position, you can expect to complete a background and reference checks as part of the process.
