A recent EBRI study finds that spending patterns of preretirees and retirees are more diverse than is usually accounted for in spend-down strategies. In this EBRIefing, EBRI Research Associate Zahra Ebrahimi explains the differences between Home Spenders, Health Spenders, Discretionary Spenders, and Typical Spenders — how they spend differently and how their spending patterns may change over time. We will also hear from retirement experts on how these diverse spending profiles may translate into unique spending strategies as well as the need for various spending tools and approaches.
