Many residents in the Central Valley rely on groundwater as their primary source of drinking water. Some residents cannot safely use groundwater for drinking water due to unsafe nitrate levels that may cause human health impacts.  Local industry and community representatives have joined to form  a non-profit organization, the Kings Water Alliance (KWA), with the goal to implement safe drinking water solutions.

The KWA is efficiently implementing short and long term drinking water solutions under the new Nitrate Control Program. It is the governing organization for an area known as the Kings Management Zone, an area covering portions of Fresno, Tulare, and Kings counties.

The Kings Water Alliance's Early Action Plan (EAP) outlines safe drinking water solutions for residents impacted by unsafe levels of nitrate in groundwater.  If you live in the Management Zone and drink from a well with nitrates above safe drinking levels, you may be eligible to receive free drinking water solutions like bottled water delivery.

Eligibility:
  1. Residence located within the Priority 1 area of the KWA.  An interactive map on our website will verify that you live in the Management Zone:  http://kingswateralliance.org/map/.
  2. Confirm your drinking water well has unsafe nitrate levels.  Complete this survey to receive additional information about free drinking water well testing.  If you already have a water quality analysis from a certified laboratory in the last five years, a test may not be necessary.

Questions or comments, please contact us at info@kingswateralliance.org or (559) 549-6747.

Free drinking water is available at fill station locations in Dinuba, Hanford, and Kerman.  Additional information on fill stations can be found here:  http://kingswateralliance.org/safedrinkingwater/fillstations/.
