2018 IACP Cookbook Awards committee

Dear IACP member,

Thank you for your interest in becoming a judge for the 2018 IACP Cookbook Awards (CBA) committee. We anticipate having the open committee positions filled by the end of August, 2017 by the CBA Chair through a review of qualifications and category needs. Please see judge qualifications and requirements listed below. Once chosen, judges will receive more information about timelines and specific duties.

PLEASE NOTE: This awards cycle is under a tight timeline due to our annual conference dates. If you are not flexible to handle a bulk of the scoring and review during the months of December and January, we encourage you to apply next year. To help determine your interest and availability, here are the key dates for the judging process:

August 1, 2017                Call for entries goes public (all awards)

November 24, 2017         Deadline for the Cookbook Awards entries

December 22, 2017         Deadline for the first tier ballots

January 19, 2018             Deadline for the second tier ballots

January  26-27, 2018       Face to face Executive Meeting

February 2, 2018             Press release for awards finalists goes public

As a reminder, here are the judge qualifications and requirements. PLEASE NOTE: You cannot judge two consecutive years in a row, so please do not apply if you judged on last year's committee.

1. You are not eligible to be a judge if you have written, edited or significantly contributed to any book entered into this year's competition.
2. All category selections and information regarding the judging process must remain confidential.
3. No judge serving on the IACP Cookbook Awards Committee may be involved in judging a comparable cookbook award program during the same year.
4. Your IACP membership must be current and up-to-date in order for you to participate as a judge. (There is still time to renew your dues, if need be.)
5. Judges who evaluate categories that require recipe testing will receive up to $150 toward recipe testing reimbursement upon completion of the judging process and submission of receipts.
6. Judges should be able to work comfortably with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and online surveys for scoring.
7. Due to budgetary restraints, we are only accepting judges from within the 50 continental United States.

Thanks so much for considering this opportunity to give back to IACP. We appreciate all you have already done for the organization and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Shani Phelan
Member Programs and Operations Manager
