Hello,
This is a brief survey about an upcoming issue that I will be voting on in City Council. I want your feedback to better inform my vote and to understand what my constituency thinks about this issue:
In general, if a property owner requests historic designation for their own property, there is not a problem. But when an application is submitted to designate a property as historic without the property owner's consent, it can get contentious.
You have probably heard about Tom's Diner in the news this year. Although it was resolved prior to a Council vote, it brought a lot of historic designation issues to light. That is why City Council will decide whether an owner-opposed designation should require a supermajority vote of Council members (instead of just a simple majority of seven members).
This survey should take about two minutes to complete. Thank you for your time and input.
Sincerely,
Councilwoman Amanda Sawyer
