Central government believes London requires more housing. The draft London Plan (December 2017) sets a target for Kingston of 13,640 new homes over the next decade and North Kingston will be expected to play its part. Have your say on how best this can be done while maintaining the character of the area, and protecting our open spaces, our schools, shops and places of work.

To give the community a really powerful voice we need at least 1,000 responses to our questionnaire, so please do complete, it should only take 10 minutes.  Help us shape our neighbourhood or it will be left to the developers.

Please  complete no later than Monday 5th August 2019

Question Title

Question Title

* 2. Additionally the NK Neighbourhood Forum has identified other areas where growth may also be directed (see poster 4). Do you agree that development could also extend to some or all of those sites to help spread the load?

Question Title

* 3. Developments might also be proposed on other sites in the future. Do you agree that the Neighbourhood Plan should apply tight controls beyond the North Kingston sites already identified, in order to protect the residential character of the Area?

Question Title

* 4. Kingston Council's social housing in North Kingston, predominantly in Acre and Elm Roads, may be redeveloped soon. The NKF believes that redevelopment should prioritise affordable housing and provide support services in health, education or recreation as appropriate. Do you agree?

* 5. North Kingston has several Conservation Areas that have been largely protected from harmful and intrusive development. The NKF believes that a number of other areas are worthy of similar protection (see poster 2) Is this a good idea?

Question Title

* 6. The parks and open spaces of North Kingston contribute to the Neighbourhood’s attractiveness but many could benefit from improvement (see Poster 3). Do you agree that the areas identified by the NKF should be prioritised?

Question Title

* 8. Local shops are coming under increasing pressure both from the major supermarket and internet shopping. Would you support policies to provide more flexible planning controls to allow a wider range of uses?

Question Title

* 9. Business premises are under great pressure from Government initiatives to provide more homes which allow offices, workshops and similar properties, to be converted to residential use as “permitted development”. Do you agree that greater planning controls are necessary and that existing employment spaces should be given more protection?

Question Title

* 10. Most of the planning applications received in North Kingston are from householders for loft conversions and/or rear extensions. Normally uncontroversial, they can raise concerns with neighbours or adversely affect the attractiveness of the street. Should the Neighbourhood Plan introduce additional safeguards to protect local character and amenity?

Question Title

* 11. Our community amenities such as schools and health facilities are already under great pressure and as the population here increases, more will be required.
