Invitation to Participate
You are invited to participate in this research study because you are a primary care physician.

Background
Family Caregivers play a critical role in meeting the health, functional, social, emotional and financial needs of Canadians with chronic illnesses, disabilities, or frailty. Family caregivers provide at least 80% of care. New research shows the annual economic value of Alberta family caregivers’ care work is $12 billion per year.

The load and length of Caregiving has negative impacts on Family Caregivers. It can lead to deterioration of their mental, physical and financial health, and caregiver burnout. COVID-19 pandemic further added to caregiver burden of care and exponentially increased anxiety, loneliness and stress in them.

Purpose of the Study Family Physicians are well positioned to support Family Caregivers, to bridge the gap between what Family Caregivers need and what they receive from the health care system. This study will determine the educational needs of Family Physicians on supporting Family Caregivers. The results of this study will inform the development of educational sessions for Family Physicians.
