We are updating the AACN Scope and Standards for Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (ACNPs) and invite comments on the proposed revisions. The period for open comment will be 30 days, ending on April 7th, 2017.
The update includes the following key elements:
• Aligns with the “Consensus Model for APRN Regulation: Licensure, Accreditation, Certification and Education" and model language to limit confusion among regulators and other stakeholders.
• Allows maximum flexibility for ACNP practice to evolve over time by clarifying the wide range of patient care environments where they can work
• Addresses practice for the pediatric acute care nurse practitioner and the adult-geriatric ACNP.
• Incorporates the ACNP role to facilitate patient transitions across a complex environment for optimal patient outcomes
• Integrates the translation of evidence into practice
