Pacific Clinics invites eligible participants to apply to attend the 80 hour instructor led online Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification Training. Training consists of 27 sessions that will be Monday/Tuesdays/Wednesday/Thursdays/Friday, 9:00am-12:00pm. This 80 hour course will consist of nine self-paced sessions and 18 live sessions via Zoom. 

This training equips current and aspiring peer support specialists in learning skills based content while utilizing their lived experiences to retain or gain employment within the mental health services field. Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists have a transformative effect on care; whether through emergency response, inpatient settings, primary care, or alongside mental health professionals, peers use their valuable lived experiences to help others navigate and progress in their own recovery process.

Who Can Participate

Individuals participating in this training are recommended to be in a peer level position or interested in joining the behavioral healthcare workforce as a: 
    • Peer Support Specialist
    • Peer Partner
    • Peer Advocate
    • Recovery Coach
    • Community Care Coordinator
    • Mental Health Advocates/Worker
    • or similar position 
Participation Requirements
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Have a high school diploma, GED, or college degree.
  • Self-identify as an individual with lived experience of the process of recovery from mental illness or substance use disorder, either as a consumer of these services or as the parent, caregiver, or family member of a consumer.
  • Be willing to share their story as a person with lived experience.
  • Have a strong dedication to recovery.
