2012 “RadTech Experience” Scholarship

Charter: The purpose of the “RadTech Experience” Scholarship program is to expose promising young undergraduate and graduate students to the ultraviolet (UV) and electron beam (EB) industry through participation in the biannual RadTech conference.

Background: RadTech is the non profit organization dedicated to the advancement of UV/EB technology. RadTech serves as an industry forum, addressing the educational needs of the users and suppliers of UV/EB, including a wide variety of applications including--paints, coatings, inks, adhesives, composites, rapid prototyping and dental fillings. The UV/EB industry has made strong gains over the last decade and is expected to continue growing at a fast rate as the technology helps address growing concerns over the environment and energy. More information on the RadTech organization and UV/EB technology can be found at http://www.radtech.org.

Description: The “RadTech Experience” scholarship is intended to provide both an educational and memorable experience for students. Two scholarship award winners will be selected. The winners will be provided with an all expenses paid trip to the biannual RadTech conference, plus $500 upon completion of a short paper. The trip will include reasonable airfare within the continental U.S., airport transfer, hotel, and per diem. Registration costs for the conference will also be waived. The award recipients should attend all three days of the conference and are encouraged to attend the sessions which they feel are most applicable to their area of study as well as interact and network with RadTech officers, members, and industrial representatives in attendance. At the RadTech Awards dinner, award winners will be recognized. Winners will receive a $500 check upon submission of a five page manuscript which summarizes one of the sessions attended and the potential impact on the student’s field of study. Manuscripts are due within one month of the conference with a goal of publication in the “RadTech Report” magazine.
