Earlier this year, the Squamish Nation engaged with membership through a formal budgeting process. We hosted an information movie night, two open houses, and an online survey to gather feedback on services and spending priorities. Feedback has shaped the upcoming year’s budget.

We heard from members that we should increase spending in the following categories:

• Member Services
• Planning and Capital Projects
• Education, Employment & Training
• Health and Wellness
• Language and Cultural Affairs

Based on the input, we focused budget allocation decisions to each of the above-listed areas.

There were very few requests to reduce budgets in any areas. For the other areas (not listed above), the vast majority of members said the budget should stay the same. As such, no significant changes were made to those budgets.

To continue to improve the budgeting process moving forward, it’s important for us to understand what worked and what didn’t from the point of view of members.

The following survey is an opportunity to reflect on your participation in the BudgetTalks process, and what you think could be done to improve it.

This survey is for Squamish Nation members only. It will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

SURVEY CLOSE DATE: TUESDAY, AUGUST 11, 2020

All members who complete the survey will be entered in a draw to win 1 of 3 $250 Visa gift cards.
