Course Title: Engineered Wood Products in Fire and Sound Floor Assemblies in Multifamily Structures  - 1 PDH

Speakers:  C.J. Roberts - Manufacturer's Representatives, Weyerhaeuser.
This course addresses fire resistant requirements utilizing engineered wood products in Type V and III structures for floor/ceiling assemblies. Topics include code requirements for rated assemblies, testing methods, Flame Spread and Fire Retardant Treatment (FRT).  Sound Transition Class (STC), Impact Insulation Class (IIC) ratings and cost effectiveness of one and two layer rated assemblies will be introduced.

Learning Objectives:

· Use IBC (or amended state building code) to determine the construction classification type.

· Identify the Fire resistance requirements for building elements in Unrated and Fire Resistance Rated     structures.

· Compare options for floor/ceiling fire assemblies.

· Address other concerns (not related to code requirements) when specifying a floor/ceiling assembly.


Course Title:  Open Web Truss & I- Joist Floor System Considerations - 1 PDH

Speakers:  C.J. Roberts - Manufacturer's Representatives, Weyerhaeuser.

Participants will come away with an understanding of the advantages and differences of custom plated Open Web trusses and I-Joist floor systems related to: Structural Design, Performance, Installation and Cost.

Learning Objectives:

· Introduction to fire, sound and impact assembly options for I-Joist and open-web floor systems.

· Discuss floor performance design factors including deflection and vibration for both systems.

· Compare product design, fabrication and availability for both floor system types.

· Compare cost considerations for each floor system.
