Nominations will be accepted through July 16, 2021. The award will be given in October 2021 at the 20th Annual VBSR Awards Ceremony & Dinner.

The VBSR Terry Ehrich Award for Lifetime Achievement honors an outstanding individual of a member organization in honor of Terry Ehrich, late owner of Hemmings Motor News, founder of the First Day Foundation and a founding Board member of VBSR. The award is given annually to a person exemplifying Terry’s commitment to community, the environment, progressive public policy, and the workplace.

Any individual employed by a VBSR member meeting the definition below is eligible to be nominated. Membership must be in good standing. Self-nominations are welcome and encouraged.

The member will be a Vermont socially responsible enterprise that uses the power of business to advance innovative solutions to society’s challenges. Such enterprises can be for-profit, not-for-profit or any of the innovative legal structures in between. What distinguishes them is a commitment to the social mission of their organization while maximizing the productivity of their business venture to ensure sustainability. Past recipients and sitting members of the nominating committee are not eligible.

Nominations for the award are reviewed by the board-appointed Nominating Committee and judged on the four criteria below, with recipients approved by the full board.

Community: How has the nominee contributed to their community, such as donating volunteer time, providing resources (financial and other), and promoting employee volunteerism?

Environment: How do the nominee's business practices reflect respect and concern for our natural resources and minimize negative impact on the environment?

Public Policy: How has the nominee been active in public policy at the state or federal level? Which issues have they taken a stand on, and how have they promoted and influenced these issues?

Workplace: How does the nominee's business model encompass a healthy and productive workplace, and support work-life balance?

Nominations will be accepted through Friday, July 16, 2021.
