On the occasion of the Fête de la Francophonie, the French Embassy in the United States, in partnership with the Antoine de Saint Exupéry Youth Foundation, invites you to take part in the Antoine de Saint Exupéry – Petit Prince Writing Contest, 2023 edition.
 
Celebrate the 80th anniversary of the first publication in the United States (in French and English) of Antoine de Saint Exupéry's major work: The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince). The 6th edition will offer all French-speaking classes and learners, including public, and private schools, Alliances françaises, and FLAM association in the United States the opportunity to take part in a major writing and drawing contest based on The Little Prince.



Writing Contest Guidelines

Join the Little Prince on a journey like no other. As a reminder the writing prompt is as follows:

French Teachers and educators across the United States, complete this online form in order to receive an accompanying workbook created by the Educational Affairs Department, at the French Embassy, which will allow teachers and classrooms to dive deeper into the world of the Little Prince.

Teachers/ Educators

Looking to create an activity in your classroom? 
Upon registering, starting March 1st, you will receive, via email, access to the workbook which will allow you to create an activity and encourage students to take on a journey like the Little Prince answering questions on the theme of friendship, love, and unity. 

How to submit your text?

Each text must be written in French and be no longer than one page (5,000 characters). It can be handwritten or typed and must be presented as a letter. Individual participants must submit the texts, in PDF format, using the following online form. If a drawing accompanies a text, it must be on a maximum of one page (other than the text) and be submitted at the same time as the text. Teachers if you wish to submit several texts for your classroom, please submit your student's submission at contact-petitprince@frenchculture.org

What is the calendar of the contest?

March 1st, 2023:
 Opening of the writing contest in celebration of the Mois de la Francophonie

March 31st, 2023: End of the contest, and collection of the texts submitted online. The jury of the consulates will carefully examine the submissions and select one winner per age category (6 winners in all).

April 6th, 2023: Announcement of the six winners on the anniversary of the first publication of The Little Prince. If winners agree, their texts and drawings will be published on our websiteThe winners will receive prizes from our partners France Channel, Bayard & Milan USA, and Culturethèque.
