TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE EVALUATION
The Senior Bridge Engineer examination is being given on a Open basis. This examination requires respondents to answer 14 self-rating questions. The examination answers cannot be saved for completion at a later time, therefore, the examination MUST be completed in one session.
This examination consists of uploading a Standard State Application (STD.678), uploading a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer, and completing an online Training and Experience evaluation.
Candidates with more than 4 relevant references (that cannot be grouped) should contact the exam analyst at mersades.elder@dot.ca.gov to receive a hard copy of the examination for mail submission.
The STD.678 form and a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer is required to be uploaded prior to proceeding with the Training and Experience evaluation. The STD.678 must be in a PDF format to be uploaded. Click here for the link to the (STD.678) form if you do not already have one available to submit.
Examinations are processed on a monthly basis. The final monthly submission date is on the last day of each month by 11:59 pm. Pacific Standard Time (PST). Both the STD.678 and the Training and Experience evaluation must both be completed and submitted by the time and date mentioned above to be processed. To submit any work completed hit the 'CONFIRM RESULTS' button before the monthly submission date or your examination will not be considered until the next month.
Candidates will be notified of their scores approximately 4 - 6 weeks after the final monthly submission date.

Caltrans recognizes that problems may occur with Internet systems while a candidate is in the middle of submitting application materials. In the event that you encounter problems with the Internet that you are unable to resolve, you may:
1. CALL the Examination Analyst at (916) 227-6858 during regular business hours (Monday - Friday) to receive instructions on how to continue.
2. SUBMIT a request for assistance via E-mail at askExams@dot.ca.gov, providing the following information:
- The name of the Examination
- The date and time you began submitting your application materials online
- Your full name
- Your Easy ID
- Your daytime telephone number and e-mail address, if applicable
- A complete description of the problem that occurred.
