Welcome

This survey is part of a longitudinal study of school libraries and school library services in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The information you provide will enable us to prioritise, plan, and deliver services to school libraries and the people who work in them. It may also guide further research about how school library staff and services can improve student outcomes.

The survey will close on Friday 17 October 2025.

You may complete the survey more than once:
  • if your school operates more than one library or campus
  • to gather more than one perspective from your school e.g. the Principal and library staff may each submit a response
  • if you work in more than one school and you're responding for each one.

You can choose which sections of the survey you'll answer, but also skip questions you can't answer.
  • Principals will see additional questions about leadership and future directions.
  • School library staff will see additional questions about their employment arrangements and support.

Survey completion time will vary depending on your role and which sections you choose to answer.

Your progress is saved as you move pages and when you submit your response. Leave the survey open in your browser until you're ready to submit your response. If you lose a response in progress and need help retrieving it, please contact Miriam Tuohy (miriam.tuohy@dia.govt.nz).

We have asked you to identify your school as this will:
  • enable us to manage data when more than one person from the school has completed the survey
  • enable us to analyse data on factors such as equity index, location, school type and size.

Your responses are confidential. Survey reporting will not identify individual schools or respondents. All data is securely stored by the National Library of New Zealand Te Puna Mātauranga o Aotearoa.
