So you would like to volunteer to become a member of Arts For Life’s Theatre Recognition Guild (TRG) and to serve as a judge for the musicals that will be considered in 2020 for Art’s For Life’s Best Performance Awards (BPA’s)?

Excellent! You’re in the right place. This is the application to be a TRG judge.

Not really a “musical” person? But, you are interested in volunteering to judge the many dramatic and comedic “straight” plays to be considered for the Theatre Mask Awards (TMA’s)? Then you want to volunteer for Arts for Life’s newer Judges Panel. Here’s the link for that application

Or perhaps you’re of a “Rhett Butler” mindset and “don’t give a ….” whether you judge plays or musicals? That’s fine too! Just fill out both applications. Please be aware, though, you may serve on either the TRG or the Judge’s Panel, but not both.

Here you will find all the information you need to understand the requirements of being a successful judge and the commitment it entails and you’ll also be able to submit your application.

To begin let’s cover some important information:

APPLICATION DEADLINE:  Monday, November 18, 2019

Arts for Life enrolls judges only once per year. The application period is open for about a month and once it closes we no longer seek judges until the following year. If you want to be a judge in 2020, this is the time to apply. If you are selected you’ll be notified in early December.

WE NEED A LOT OF JUDGES! If you know someone who might be interested, please refer them to this application. (Secret handshake not required.)

Judging so many shows is a huge undertaking. We need all the qualified help we can get. Your assistance in identifying potential judges and getting them to apply is invaluable.

JUDGES ARE VOLUNTEERS WHO REPRESENT ARTS FOR LIFE.

The BPA’s and TMA’s succeed because of our wonderful volunteers who donate their time and expertise to making the process work. We love our volunteers and endeavor to make volunteering as a judge for Arts for Life fun and we seek out energized and positive judges. Once you become a judge for the AFL organization you represent us and we become responsible for you and your comportment. In many instances you are the only Arts for Life persons with whom our participating groups come into direct contact. AFL is a non-profit organization and we are required to screen and document all volunteers. Some of the application questions may seem mildly intrusive but are required. All information you provide is strictly kept within AFL. It is NEVER shared outside AFL.
