1. Introduction

Welcome to the fourth Victoria SES Volunteers Association (VicSESVA) Volunteer Welfare and Efficiency Survey.

Thank you for taking time to complete this short survey, which should take 10 to 15 minutes.

The survey is being hosted by Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria (VFBV) on behalf of VicSESVA for VIC SES volunteers.

The Victoria SES Volunteers Association (VicSESVA) appreciates the opportunity to partner and advance the interests of our volunteers, as well as those in other emergency management volunteer organisations.  In 2019, this annual survey, developed by the association supporting CFA volunteers, Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria (VFBV) will be the eighth survey run by VFBV for CFA volunteers and the fourth survey for VIC SES volunteers following surveys run in 2015, 2016 and 2017 by VicSESVA.

The VICSES version of the survey, whilst being hosted by VFBV, contains questions tailored to our volunteers’ needs, and the results will provide VicSESVA, VICSES, volunteers and Government a guide to how volunteers feel on important issues.  As this is the fourth time the survey has run, trends will again be analysed and compared with previous years.

Your responses are confidential, analysed independently and the overall trends will be carefully studied.

Please complete this survey as soon as possible, the link will close on 14 October 2019.

Importance and Performance Ratings

Volunteers chose the issues in this survey because they are important to them. We ask you to read each statement, then give it a score out of 10 for its importance to you, then a score out of 10 for performance – this is the extent to which your expectations regarding this statement are being met.

For example; Statement 4 says "I feel the time I devote to VICSES is productive and worthwhile”.

How important is it that this statement is true? Give it a low score if it is not important, give it a high score if it is very important.

Then rate the performance of this statement, if you feel that the time you devote to VICSES is very productive and worthwhile, give it a high score, if you do not feel that way, give it a low score.

It is important to answer as many questions as possible, however if you do not feel you have been exposed to the topic identified in the statement, you may skip the question. It is possible, to answer importance but leave performance blank.

Doing this helps us to understand what your expectations are on each statement (importance) and whether your expectations are being fully met (performance).

Thank you very much for agreeing to complete this survey. The overall statistics are studied carefully, and every comment is read.
