Norman J. Priest Scholarship Application-2017-2018

Purpose:
To recognize one or more continuing full-time (sophomore, junior, senior and grad student) students working in the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation Inc., also to recognize participation and leadership in campus activities/community service and Foundation work activities.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must meet the following standards:
•Continuing full-time student (minimum 12 units per quarter for the academic year). You must be enrolled as a full-time student in the winter quarter.
•Completed over 45 units in undergraduate course work to qualify for sophomore status.
•Continuing student assistant employee of the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation, Inc. (minimum of 9 months of employment). Must work in one of the Foundation’s operations (i.e., Foundation Operation or Foundation Grant).
•Cal Poly GPA of 2.0 or above.

A committee, including Mrs. James Priest and Mr. Jim Priest, will review all applications and select two winners. Scholarships will be awarded by early December 2017. Winners will attend the Foundation Board of Directors meeting in February 2018 for a recognition presentation.

In keeping with the Foundation's lean and green principles, the submittal process is totally electronic.

(a) how student employment in the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation, Inc. has assisted you with your educational goals,
(b) how you plan to use the scholarship award to help you achieve your career/educational goals, and
(c) how participation and leadership in campus activities and community service will help you achieve your goals. NOTE: Your essay must be well thought out, grammatically correct and spell checked (Points will be deducted for errors).
•Two letters of recommendation:
(a) one from your supervisor, and
(b) one from a Foundation staff employee

Selection Process:
A Foundation Scholarship Committee will review all submitted applications.

Scholarship Award: $1000

Scholarship recipients will be announced during the fall quarter.

Deadline for application submittal: Thursday, November 16, 2017 by 3 pm--no exceptions.
