Leadership Advance is a leadership development program presented by the Leadership Foundation of Greater Las Vegas designed to give participants the opportunity to experience various aspects of the Southern Nevada community while incorporating leadership-building skills to be used to develop a better community.

 
Tailored specifically to leaders wanting to hone their personal leadership style, as well as enrich their knowledge of the Las Vegas Valley, Leadership Advance brings together individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences to develop their leadership potential, become connected to the community and expand their professional network.


Here is what you can expect from your Leadership Advance experience: 

  • Ten sessions that begin with a two-day, one-night opening advance retreat followed by nine unique and rewarding program session days, spread out over nine months.
  • Forging lifelong relationships with your classmates.
  • Meeting the “who’s who” of our community and tapping into their expertise. During the morning of each session, you will receive a “back of the house” look at the systems and topics in our community that make it so vibrant and dynamic:
    • History
    • Government
    • Community Volunteerism
    • Healthcare
    • Education
    • Public Safety & Justice
    • Armed Forces
    • Business, Industry, Gaming & Tourism
    • Wrap-Up
The second half of the session day is a series of fully-facilitated practical leadership training dedicated to growing skills that will enhance your leadership prowess, improve companies and advance careers.

Mission Statement:
The mission of Leadership Advance is to develop current and emerging leaders who will rise to the challenges and accept responsibility to bring about the betterment of the Southern Nevada community at large.

Desired Outcomes:
  1. Each graduate will end this training experience with a better   understanding of how group interactions, diversity, team dynamics and collaborative critique can help them become better individuals and leaders.
  2. Each graduate will be armed with a new set of skills and experiences that will directly apply to current jobs and management/executive aspirations; and
  3. Each graduate will have experienced a number of “aha moments” that put them on a stronger path for personal development and career success.  

Selection Criteria:
Each participant in the program will be selected based on information provided on the application, as well as an overall interview. Selection criteria will include:
  • Professional commitment to remain in the community
  • Demonstrated commitment through past and present community involvement
  • Demonstrated leadership ability through personal and professional achievements
  • Sincere concern about the future of Southern Nevada and a desire to become involved in shaping its future

The Leadership Advance Class of 2018 will represent the diversity of the greater Las Vegas community. Finalists must attend a personal interview. Interviews will be scheduled between July 24 and July 28, 2017.  All applicants will receive final written notification of their selection status by Tuesday, August 8, 2017.
