AFSP gives out 2 types of awards at our Annual Advocacy Forum:

1. Allies in Action Award - For this award, AFSP honors members of Congress and state legislators, legislative staff, thought leaders, and organizations that have made important contributions toward improving mental health and preventing suicide. Allies in Action award winners are catalysts for positive, life-saving changes in public policy nationwide and serve as models and examples for others in the suicide prevention movement.

2. Sandy Martin Grassroots Award (Field Advocate of the Year)- For this award, AFSP seeks "unsung heroes" working at the state or local level who clearly exemplify sustained commitment to the mission of suicide prevention, particularly in the areas of advocacy and public policy. These grassroots advocates devote their time and energy to build relationships with public officials, network with state and local agencies and organizations, recruit volunteers to AFSP's Field Advocate and Field Ambassador networks, and further AFSP's Public Policy Priorities. **Volunteer nominations only, please - AFSP staff are not eligible for this award.

If you know someone that you think should be honored for either award (including yourself), please fill out the following form. Only one nomination per form - if you'd like to nominate more than one individual, you may submit multiple forms.
