The ACR FIT Subcommittee represents the voice of rheumatology fellows-in-training.

FIT Subcommittee Mission Statement
To enhance and improve fellowship training, encourage the matriculation of students and residents into the field of rheumatology, and improve the utilization of resources within the College.

Subcommittee Activities
1) Organizing educational and career development sessions for fellows-in-training at the ACR/ARP Annual Meeting and the State-of-the-Art (SOTA) Clinical Symposium.
2) Enhancing mentorship opportunities for rheumatology fellows-in-training.
3) Providing useful resources for fellows-in-training on the ACR website.
4) Fostering opportunities for fellows across institutions to engage with one another.

Eligibility Requirements
To apply and hold a seat on the Subcommittee, fellows-in-training are required to be:
- Available to serve one consecutive two-year term on the Subcommittee.
- An active ACR Fellow-in-Training member in good standing.
- Actively enrolled in an ACGME accredited or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) rheumatology training program during the duration of the two-year term.
Note: Institution faculty members, students, and residents are ineligible to hold a seat on the Subcommittee. Subcommittee members must be fellows for both years of his/her term.

Commitment Level
The Subcommittee meets in-person at the State-of-the-Art Clinical Symposium and at the ACR/ARP Annual Meeting and hosts multiple conference calls and online correspondence annually.

Term Length
Subcommittee members are required to serve one consecutive two-year term on the Subcommittee.

 Adult Rheumatology Fellow-in-Training Nominees
- Fellows enrolled in a two-year adult training program must be in their first year of fellowship to apply and sit on the subcommittee.
- Fellows enrolled in a three year adult training program can be in their first or second year of fellowship to apply and sit on the subcommittee.

Pediatric Fellow-in-Training Nominees
- Fellows enrolled in a three year pediatric training program can be in their first or second year of fellowship to apply and sit on the subcommittee.

Required Supporting Documents

1) Curriculum Vitae (NIH format) limited to four pages.
2) Personal Statement describing what you would contribute to the Fellows-in-Training Subcommittee. Limited to one page.
3) A letter of recommendation from your program director including:
       - A commitment from the program director to provide protected time for the subcommittee activities
       - Describing of what area of expertise you would bring to the subcommittee (e.g. advocacy experience, clinical research, basic research, business/practice knowledge, teaching, ethical issues, etc.
