1. Abolition of community care grants and crisis loans
Homeless Link is contacting members across England to gather views on the proposed abolition of community care grants and crisis loans and their proposed replacement with locally administered emergency provision.The rationale for this change is that the system has become too expensive and local authorities will be better placed to assess and target the most vulnerable. Alignment loans will still be nationally administered with an advance of benefit facility. We would like your examples of the impact the loss of grants and loans will have on your clients and your ideas about how locally administered provision might work in your area.
