The Arab American Action Network (AAAN) is pleased to offer 15 paid youth positions for Spring 2011. The AAAN provides these opportunities to extend educational and leadership development experience for young adults.

Youth will:

• discuss social and political issues in order to gain a better understanding of these issues
• develop creative writing pieces and perform before an audience
• learn basic youth organizing and campaign development skills
• work in small and large teams on various short term projects
• enjoy a variety of team-building exercises, group games, films and field trips

The Spring 2011 program will begin on February 11, 2011 and end on April 23, 2011 and will be based out of the AAAN’s main office located at 3148 W. 63rd ST; Chicago, IL 60629.


Candidate Qualifications:

• Must be 14-19 years old
• Must be enrolled in school or have a high school diploma/GED or higher
• Must be able to get to and from the AAAN office
• Must demonstrate interest in the program
• Must complete application and interview process as established by AAAN


Program Experience:

• Opportunity to learn about real issues that are affecting the Arab and Arab-American community
• Opportunity to be a project leader and work collaboratively with a team on projects that will develop skills and experience
• Opportunity to work in a professional setting at a nonprofit organization
• Opportunity to make new friends and have fun!

PROGRAM SCHEDULE:
Fridays from 4:30-7:30pm & Saturdays from 12-5pm.

Youth must be able to commit to all program hours. Each youth can earn up to $400 for their completion of the 10-week program.
