WOUNDED WORLD: Reflections on a Publishing Experiment |

The essays in WOUNDED WORLD were primarily written between 2004 and 2007, but it was always conceived of as a series of linked essays that would make a whole.
I began sending the book out to agents and editors in 2008 but was unable to find anyone who thought the project was sufficiently marketable. During this same period of time I was meeting with a group of writers, editors, booksellers and publishers to grapple with the changes taking place in the publishing industry and the new options available in independent publishing.
This year I decided to try publishing the book serially as a blog--two essays per week--to see if I could build a readership for the book. What I didn't anticipate was how much I would come to treasure the feedback and discussion generated by readers of the blog. This was the unexpected blessing of the experiment.
My next step is to independently publish a print version and an e-book, which I intend to make available before the end of the year. As this has been a participatory effort, I'm asking you now to respond to a few questions that will help me plan the publishing and marketing of the next iteration of WOUNDED WORLD.
