DRAFT VERSION - ALL ENTRIES WILL BE ERASED!
Dear Thyroid Cancer Survivor -
Welcome!
The goal of this survey is to improve the relationships thyroid cancer patients have with their medical care providers.
This survey's inspiration began in April 2012 when a thyroid cancer survivor asked her support friends if she should explain to her endocrinologist why she had decided to leave his care. Her hesitancy to candidly share her reasons for leaving are understandable. No one wishes to potentially burn a bridge that may impact ones future care. Yet, if nothing is said then other patients may share similar experiences.
There are various reasons why our experiences as thyroid cancer patients with our medical care providers may become complex. One obvious reason is that very few thyroid cancer medical specialists have experienced firsthand what it is like to have thyroid cancer and to live through its testing and treatment. Another reason is that our emotions may change as our medical prognosis changes. Yet another reason is that thyroid levels impact perceptions.
There is much that may be done to strengthen our relationships with our medical care providers. For instance, occasionally giving a medical care provider a kind word with a thank you card is a great gesture.
This survey provides a vehicle to express your thoughts and insights regarding the care you receive to thyca medical care providers. The thoughts and insights learned from this survey will be compiled into a report that that will be distributed to the various organizations that represent thyca medical care providers worldwide.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.
Together, we will be heard.
