IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Please complete one survey per ECEAP contractor by February 17, 2012.

The purpose of this survey is to determine which contractors plan to use Teaching Strategies GOLD in the coming school year and help DEL plan training and implementation. ECEAP Contractors can voluntarily use Teaching Strategies GOLD for the 2012-13 school year. All of ECEAP will use GOLD in 2013-14.

If you participate in GOLD through DEL for 2012-13:

1. DEL will pay for two days of in-person Teaching Strategies GOLD training for ECEAP lead teachers and education/child development coordinators, with options between April and September 2012. Follow-up webinars are available online.

2. If the state budget allows, DEL will pay all or part of the cost for use of GOLD online for ECEAP slots. Contractors may purchase additional slots for other funding sources at the rate of 9.95 per slot.

3. Teachers will observe children throughout the school year, and enter observations in the online version of GOLD.

4. Teachers will finalize their ratings for each child three times a year - by November 16, March 1, and June 14. In GOLD, these are called “checkpoints.”

5. Teachers will rate all objectives within the following areas of GOLD: Physical, Language, Cognitive, Literacy and Mathematics. DEL will determine whether we are collecting social-emotional data from GOLD, and the future use of DECA, based on the results of this survey. The remaining areas of development and learning are optional for 2012-13.

6. Teachers will complete the Home Language Survey on all children, and assess the child’s English language acquisition, if indicated.

7. Lead teachers will be expected to test “reliable” within six months of their training, or within six months of the beginning of the school year if they were trained before spring 2012. This strengthens the accuracy of the statewide data. DEL is exploring how to pay for the online reliability test, or provide an incentive once teachers pass the test.

DEL plans to offer training in April through September 2013, for contractors who choose to start GOLD in the fall of 2013.

Question Title

* 3. Do you plan to participate in GOLD for the 2012-13 school year? Please read the IMPORTANT INFORMATION above before responding.

Question Title

* 4. If yes, how many child slots will you assess with Teaching Strategies GOLD? Consider whether you will use it at every direct and subcontracted site. Assume the same total number of ECEAP slots as the current year. Do NOT add slots to accommodate turnover, since GOLD is sold by slot, not unique child.
