1. In most countries in the European Union, after implementation of national health reform, the demand for Occupational Medicine services increased significantly.

2. The Genetic Information and Non-Discrimination Act of 2008 (GINA) currently precludes insurers or employers from gathering genetic information such as family history, when such information could be used for decisions about hiring or insurance underwriting.

3. Because of GINA and PP-ACA, employer-provided health care plans will be precluded from adjusting premiums or providing other monetary incentives when covered workers modify their health risks.

4. Modifiable health risk factors, such as those that might be identified through screening questionnaires of workers, have been proved to be associated with variance in disability costs up to a few percent of payroll.
