Part 1: Precast Concrete Bridge Systems - 1 AIA/PDH

A one-hour presentation on products available to the designer in the bridge industry, illustrating several case studies in precast concrete bridge construction. Overview of several Precast Concrete Institute's publications including the PCI Design Handbook. Overview of precast/prestressed concrete fabrication and installation:

* Girder types and span capabilities including the NE Bulb Tee
* Aesthetic treatments
* Splice girder technology
* Bridge rehabilitation
* Precast piers and integral abutments
* Stay-in-Place form
Part 2: Accelerated Bridge Construction - 1 AIA/PDH

NEW Accelerated Bridge Construction using the NEXT Beam: PCINE Bridge Technical committee has developed a new bridge shape called the Northeast Extreme Tee Beam or NEXT Beam. The goal of this new section is to provide a fast construction option for variable width bridges with spans up to 90 feet. The presentation will focus on the committee's work in developing the beam and a detailed example on how to use the new section in an accelerated bridge project. The PCINE Accelerated Bridge Guidelines along with other precast options will also be discussed.

PCI an its committees publish design and construction documents such as the two-volume, comprehensive "Bridge Design Manual" (MNL-133) and the recently released "Manual for the Evaluation and Repair of Precast, Prestressed Concrete Bridge Products" (MNL-137).
