1. Western New York Library Resources Award Recognition Program Criteria

 

The WNYLRC Award Recognition Program is designed to honor those who embrace or emulate WNYLRC’s Principles as follows:

  • Community and Collaboration: Working together is more effective than working alone
  • Innovation: Creating value through positive change
  • Education: Cultivating a culture of learning
  • Connecting: Blurring boundaries
  • Advocacy: Championing libraries

The three WNYLRC Award categories you may select from:

  1. Excellence in Library Service - This award honors an individual from a WNYLRC member library at any staffing level or a WNYLRC committee member and is based on the breadth of the service philosophy during the past year which may include leadership, participation, commitment, development of new or improved services that enhances the experience of library patrons or library operations.
  2. Outstanding Library Advocate Award - This award honors an individual, business, legislator(s), or organization outside the library field who advocates for a library or libraries in Western New York such as advocating for funding at the local or state level, leadership in partnership development and collaborations, and/or support of library-related events and conferences.
  3. Outstanding Library or Library Program Award - This award honors an outstanding service, program, or overall library program including the development of a new or enhanced service model, improvements to physical facilities that result in better services, creation of an innovative program that enhances the library's constituency, development of a program that touches the lives of underserved population, or provision of a service not available from any other library or library system and may be outside the library's primary mission.

A candidate may be nominated by a co-worker, an employee at WNYLRC, an individual from the library profession who resides in the region or by a member of the community in which the library serves. The awards will be presented at the WNYLRC Annual Meeting in October. All nomination forms are public documents. Information from the forms may be used for public relation purposes.
