VCU Global Health and Social Media Project: Application for Nonprofit Clients |
1 / 2 |
This is an application form for nonprofit organizations that work internationally on health issues, which are interested in having a team of VCU students help them develop a strategy for engagement on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media platforms this fall. Our project can also design a campaign for a specific campaign or other specific purpose.
We are interested in nonprofit clients that work internationally on health issues. These can be organizations from the U.S. working on a health issue abroad or international organizations working on such issues outside the United States.
The students will work on these projects from mid-September to the end of October, so this will be a very fast-moving project. The course runs completely online and is open for public participation as well. So it's crucial that a representative from your organization be available during those six weeks to interact with the project through Google Hangouts every other week as well as online forums (we can show you how that works) to describe needs and answer questions.
We have run similar projects for the last five years in VCU's Robertson School of Media & Culture and have helped almost 50 nonprofits develop their social media strategies during that time. Developing a sustainable strategy is key for us.
We plan to divide the class into project teams and have them compete for the best ideas and projects. After learning about your needs and goals, the team will propose a strategy on how you can use better use new media -- the Web, smart phones, social media and other technology -- to reach your audience.
There is no charge for the participating nonprofits. So, it's a win-win situation for the nonprofits and our students. The deadline to apply is August 18.
