Survey: Creative Arts Academy
The creation of a Creative Arts Academy for grades 6-12 in the Quad Cities is currently being considered. This new and regionally unique magnet school for the arts will offer a rigorous curriculum that prepares students for exciting career paths in the arts. The traditional subjects of mathematics, science, language arts and social studies will be delivered in an integrated arts approach. The five areas of arts focus will be music, visual arts, theatre, dance and communication arts, including graphic design and video. Each of these arts subjects will be taught in a manner that combines traditional classroom activities with innovative educational opportunities where students work with noted industry professionals from the area and afar. The Creative Arts Academy will also utilize the facilities and resources of arts-related partners throughout the Quad Cities. For example, students will visit the studios of professional artists, dancers and musicians; gain real-world experience at media production companies; go behind the scenes at local museums; and work within our many historic theatres. There will also be a strong mentorship program with professional artists.
