Dear Stamford Public Schools Family Member,

I am pleased to invite you to participate in the sixth annual Stamford Public Schools survey of families, school administrators, teachers, educational assistants and 5th - 12th grade students. Enclosed is a family survey that I hope you will complete. Your feedback about experiences in your child’s school is critical to our mission to prepare each and every student for higher education and success in the 21st century.

PURPOSE The purpose of the Spring 2014 Surveys is to provide feedback to the Board of Education, District leaders and Schools. Survey results will be used for a variety of planning processes, including Strategic/District Improvement Planning, School Improvement Planning and action planning for high-priority work.

CONFIDENTIAL RESPONSES Gathering input from all families will help us ensure that the survey results are reliable and representative of our school community. All responses will be anonymous and confidential. We are striving for a high participation rate—as close to 100% as possible. The survey content was designed to be actionable—to address your needs and make data-based decisions for planning purposes. Survey results will be analyzed and addressed at the District and school levels so that we can improve.

PARTICIPATION IS VOLUNTARY Participation is voluntary. You may choose to skip questions that you do not feel comfortable answering, although I hope you will answer as many questions as possible. The survey should take about 15 minutes to complete.

INFORMED CONSENT Completion of the enclosed survey means you have read and understand the information above about participation in the survey.

Thank you again for your help in improving Stamford Public Schools.

Very Truly Yours,

Winifred Hamilton, PhD.
Superintendent of Schools
