Relate market research: online support for separating families |
Introduction
At Relate we want to find more ways to support families going through divorce and separation. Knowing how to manage separation can improve life for everyone in the family, both in the long- and short-term. Already our Relate Centres provide great support, like counselling and family mediation. We want to learn what more support we can offer online. We are looking for the input and insight from parents who have been through separation to help us shape a potential new service.
Our vision for the proposed service is that it gives separating parents the space, the information and the decision-making tools to better understand what the biggest issues and priorities are for them and their families, and helps them to start reaching agreements on financial, housing and children’s matters.
The proposed service will also give parents access to relevant and high quality help if they get stuck, including online guidance by a skilled family mediator and online advice from a family solicitor, both of whom can help to settle differences out of court. Relationship counsellors will also be on hand to help family members deal with the emotional stress that separation can bring. You can meet face-to-face with professionals too. The proposed service will also be there for families as they manage their lives apart. There will be tools to put the agreements parents have reached into action and resolve any new disagreements.
Your help with this survey will help us to design such a service, that will meet the needs of parents going through separation.
