Purley Downs Road Bus Route |
Consultation on TfL proposals to run a bus route down Purley Downs Road
A number of residents have recently let us know that they have seen TfL engineers out marking up areas of Purley Downs Road for bus stops for a proposed new bus route. Residents wanted to know whether local councillors were behind this scheme and, if not, who was?
Local councillors were as surprised as residents when these road markings appeared - TfL did not see fit to consult us. We learned that TfL were now in the process of formally consulting on making the road a bus route, linking Purley with New Addington. This is certainly not being driven by your ward councillors, the Council, GLA Member or MP.
Formal consultation will shortly take place and we would urge you to take part. We have been chasing TFL for details of the consultation. We have also lobbied for a new bus route consultation drop in session to be held and are pleased to report this will be held as follows: Wednesday 12th November between 4pm and 7pm at All Saints’ Church Hall, Onslow Gardens, Sanderstead, CR2 9AB
Both our Greater London Assembly Member, Steve O’Connell and our local MP, Sir Richard Ottaway, have made strong representations to TfL regarding the complete lack of information and consultation about the proposal and the somewhat premature marking of potential bus stop locations which gives the impression, correctly or not, that the matter is a fait accompli. We will keep updating our blog – see www.croydonconservatives.com/sanderstead with details of the scheme as we receive them.
In the meantime, we want to know your views on whether the proposed bus route would be useful to you. Please complete the questionnaire below as fully as possible to enable us to represent the range of local opinion.
