I'm In!

Yes, I would like to lend my name in support of the 2014 Coaches Mentoring Challenge!

The Iowa Mentoring Partnership may use your name and school in a mid-season press release, and post your name/school on our Coaches Challenge web page. See http://www.volunteeriowa.org/coaches-challenge/ for an example.

When you sign on in support, you will soon receive a follow up from the Iowa Mentoring Partnership with information about your nearest mentoring program and some ideas about local support. The local mentoring program coordinator will also receive a note with the your provided information to follow up with you personally.

We encourage you to do what you are able to support your local program throughout the season. Some ideas include:

• Allow your program to host a recruitment table at a home game.
• Allow a mentoring public service announcement to be read over the loudspeaker.
• Release a limited number of free tickets for mentors/mentees to attend a game, or receive a free concession item.
• Allow mentors/mentees to meet coach or players as a group for autographs.
• Give mentors/mentees a moment of on court recognition.
• Display Coaches Challenge posters in your school.
• Issue a local press release in partnership with your mentoring program.
• Encourage athletes, parents, and fans to sign up to become mentors.
• And more! Feel free to get creative!

The Iowa Mentoring Partnership serves as an association of more than 75 youth mentoring programs across Iowa, serving more than 10,000 youth and caring adults in supporting mentoring relationships.

All of our programs are required to operate under a national performance standard called The Elements of Effective Practice. Further, they are required to conduct rigorous applicant screening processes and youth safety training for program participants.

Please e-mail mentor@iowa.gov or call 800.308.5987 if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your support!
