1. Program overview

Dear Journey Farmer Applicant,

Thank you for applying to NOFA-VT's Journey Farmer Program. The Journey Farmer Program is a two-year program for beginning farmers in the first few years of running their own farming enterprise. Beginning farmers that have 1-2 years experience running their own commercial farm-business, and secured access to land in Vermont, will be prioritized for this program.

Journey Farmers receive a range of services including:
• Farmer-to-farmer mentoring
• A $500 educational stipend
• Free admission to NOFA-VT Summer Workshop Series
• Free admission to NOFA-VT Winter Conference
• Business planning support
• Access to technical assistance by NOFA-VT staff
• Journey Farmer Network

The Journey Farmer program began in 2011, and to date 30 Journey Farmers have participated in Vermont. This year, three to five new Journey Farms will be added to the program.

Applications and resumes are due November 19, 2015. Couples and/or business partners should submit one joint application. We will review applications and then schedule interviews for the week of December 3 - 9, 2015.
