Working with the Waste Resources Action Programme (WRAP) and Zero Waste Scotland (ZWS), we are investigating the opportunities for hospitals to cut costs and add value to how they deal with the inevitable food waste produced in providing meals for patients, staff and visitors. There is little available data regarding what happens to the food waste in hospitals, so we are carrying out a brief survey to help us understand what is happening now and what options there are for the future. We also hope to identify where it might be possible to reduce costs and increase the sustainability of the way food waste is managed.

This short questionnaire should take you only 10 mins. Many of the questions offer open text fields, so you can add comments if a particular piece of information is not available or difficult to access, or if you think the data is confidential.

We are collecting contact details in the first instance so that we have the ability to clarify responses and to classify the hospital concerned. These details will be kept strictly confidential, will be deleted when the research has been completed and will not be used for any other purpose. Any reporting of results will use aggregated data rather than those from individual hospitals.
