GMB Members’ Survey: Drivers & Escorts in GeoAmey
GMB members employed as drivers and escorts by GeoAmey have been telling your GMB representatives across the business that the vehicle seats are causing pain and discomfort. We know that drivers and escorts spend many hours, often on very long journeys, transporting and caring for people to and from courts and prisons. These journeys are stressful and difficult to manage at times, and that’s all the more reason to ensure that you are as safe and comfortable as possible.
Drivers and escorts have to be alert and focused on their job at all times and we're concerned that, for GMB members working in vehicles, having to deal with aches and pains and trying to get comfortable in your seat can be a real distraction from your driving or escort role. Over time, the discomfort may also lead to health problems, so it vitally important that you have a seat which is both comfortable and fit for purpose when doing these important jobs.
GMB has raised the issue of vehicle seating with the company, and now we want to get as much detailed feedback from members as possible. We’re asking all drivers and escorts to take a few minutes to take part in this important survey, so we can have an informed discussion with the company about getting some improvements made to the vehicle seating, to tackle the problems you’re faced with on a daily basis. Please answer the questions below and give us your views.
If you would like further information on GMB’s campaign to win improvements for members in GeoAmey, or if you are a non member and wish to join, please contact Jim Edgar, GMB’s national convenor, on 07720 953451 or visit www.gmb.org.uk/join.
