* 1. The influence of self-perceptions and the presentation of information on decision-making about postgraduate study


Briefing Sheet

This study investigates whether the type of mind-set a person is in and the way in which information is presented can influence decision making of whether to undertake postgraduate study.

Taking part it in this study involves three tasks. In the first task you will be asked to write out how your responsibilities or your goals have changed since you were a child and what goals or responsibilities you wish you had met already. In the second part of the study you will read a story about a family financial situation. You are asked to imagine that the events happening in the story are happening to you. In the third part of the study you will be presented with some information about postgraduate study options and afterwards you will be asked to answer some questions in regards to your perception of postgraduate study.

You will be asked to submit some biographical information such as name and gender. Please rest assured all information will remain confidential and known only to the researcher (Pedro Monteiro). You have the right to withdraw from the study at any time including the withdrawal of your data after participation.
