1. Key Assessment #4 Documentation Rubric

This is a demo of a survey used to collect assessment data electronically. Instructors use the survey to input data about each piece of student work. The coordinator is able to collect the data from multiple instructors and run various reports. In this case, students are creating documentation panels for an observation class in which they do a case study of one child through 30 observation hours.

Meets the Standard: The process of learning is 'made visible' through images, text, and other artifacts with rich detail, logical organization, and use of professional writing and striking images.

Emerging skills within the Standard: The process of learning is identified, but the emphasis is on the product. Images, text and other artifacts are somewhat organized but writing or images are messy and unclear.

Does not meet the Standard: The process of learning is not identified. Artifacts are presented haphazardly with no descernable organization and unclear writing.

Meets the Standard: The documentation is targeting all audiences including the children, teaching/colleagues, families, & the community.

Meets the Standard: The documentation reveals the student's metacognitive awareness of her/his own learning process in rich, descriptive detail.

Emerging skills within the Standard: The documentation describes some of the student's thoughts but does not go into detail about the student's own learning process.

Does not meet the Standard: There is no description of the student's learning process or the description is superficial.

Meets the Standard: Within the documentation there is ample evidence of the student observing, gathering artifacts, questiong and hypothesizing.

Emerging skills within the Standard: Within the documentation there is some evidence of the student observing and gathering artifats but there may not be evidence of the student questioning or hypothesizing.

Does not meet the Standard: There is very little evidence of the student observing, gathering artifacts, questioning or hypothesizing.

Meets the Standard: All writing in the documentation is written clearly and without any spelling, grammar, punctuation errors, or typos.

Emerging skills within the Standard: Writing within the documentation is written clearly with some errors in spelling, grammar, ad punctuation, and/or typos that somewhat distract from the meaning.

Does not meet the Standard: Written errors are prominent and distract from the meaning.
