You are being invited to participate in a survey study for bilingual school psychologists. In order to participate in this study you must work as a bilingual school psychologist either full or part-time in a school based setting, including as a consultant or on a per diem basis. Bilingual school psychologists provide psychological and educational services in English and another language to students, families and school professionals.

Purpose of the Study: The purposes of this study are to explore the (a)unique challenges that bilingual school psychologists face when providing services in more than one language, (b) practices of bilingual school psychologists, and (c) training experiences and needs of school psychologists providing bilingual services.

Procedures: Each participant will complete a single online survey, which takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. In order to facilitate participation, school psychologists may use any computer with an Internet connection to complete the survey.

Why is your response important? You response is very important because of the scarcity of information in this area and because of our need to further understand the unique challenges faced by bilingual school psychologists. Your response will help us to understand the needs of school psychologists in relationship to delivering services via multiple languages, and will inform future training and research in bilingual school psychology.

Risk and benefits of participating in this survey. The risks for participating in this study are expected to be minimal as the topics explored are not of a sensitive nature. The purposes of the investigation are explicit. If you are uncomfortable about any questions or have any concerns, you are encouraged to contact the principal investigator, Dr. Emilia Lopez (emilia.lopez@qc.cuny.edu).

How do we protect your confidentiality? You are assured complete confidentiality in your responses as your responses cannot be linked to your identity in any way. If you are responding to this survey via a listserv or email your responses cannot be linked in any way to your identity. All personal information will be kept private and confidential. The data will be encrypted to ensure that participant responses cannot be accessed by anyone except the PIs. The data will be kept in a password-protected computer used solely by the PIs. The data will be destroyed after five years. All data will be reported in aggregated format and results will never be linked in any way to individual respondents.

Would you like to receive a copy of the results via email? If you wish to receive a copy of the results, please email the PI at emilia.lopez@qc.cuny.edu with your email address. Dr. Lopez will keep your email address in a password protected computer and will then transfer it to a list that will be kept in a locked file cabinet. Once summaries of the results are sent out, the email list will be immediately destroyed.

If you have any colleagues who are bilingual school psychologists, we ask that you forward either the original email invitation or the following link to them and encourage them to complete the questionnaire:
