Early language development is an amazing process that begins at the beginning of life. When children have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), it is important to understand the aspects of communication that can be challenging for them and their families, and to understand practices that help to support the development of reciprocal, meaningful communication. This session will provide information about early language development related to ASD, highlighting five practices that have been found to be effective for teaching communication during the critical prelinguistic period.
