The CEM Standards & Audit subcommittee is establishing a working group on Bacterial meningitis and meningococcal septicaemia.
It's purpose is to define clinical standards for the management of bacterial meningitis and meningococcal septicaemia in children and young people younger than 16 years in Emergency Departments. The standards will be based on the NICE clinical guideline CG102: http://guidance.nice.org.uk/CG102. The group will also explore producing standards for adults.
We are inviting expressions of interest from the following:
- 1 or 2 EM Consultant(s), at least one currently working in a DGH (who does not have paediatric special interest/qualifications)
- An EM Specialty Registrar (ST4 or above) with an interest in paediatrics
- An EM Specialty registrar (ST4 or above)
- Two experienced nurses working in an Emergency Dept
Members will be expected to participate in at least one face to face meeting and teleconferences as required between Jan and June 2011. Most of the work will be conducted by e-mail. Members will be selected by the Chair of the Standards & Audit subcommittee, Dr Steff Nash.
