Do attachment styles and level of emotion dysregulation have a relationship with Borderline Personality Disorder?

1. You are being asked to take part in a research study investigating the relationship between style of attachment and level of emotional regulation in Borderline Personality Disorder.

The research is being completed by a third year Psychology student for a dissertation module, supervised by Dr Gareth Miles from the University of South Wales’ Psychology Department. This research has been approved by the Psychology Research Ethics Committee of the University of South Wales.

In this study, you will be asked to complete a number of questionnaires about your attachment style, level of emotional regulation and symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder will be assessed. This study is unlikely to promote or trigger the factors that worsen the conditions of Borderline Personality Disorder; however, participants may withdraw at any time for any reason. Sufficient advice will be given in the debrief form. There will be no physical risk for participants. To avoid any risk to participants being identified, all data will be kept securely and confidentially.

You may stop being part of the research study at any time without explanation, by not submitting any answers online you will withdraw and destroy any data you have supplied up to that point. You have the right to omit, refuse to answer, or respond to any question that is asked of you.

You have the right to have your questions about the procedures answered (unless answering these questions would interfere with the study’s outcome). The information you supply will contribute to existing knowledge regarding Borderline Personality Disorder and potentially contribute to diagnosis and subsequently, treatments and intervention.
