The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) is Congress’ attempt to update American food safety regulations for fruits, vegetables and food processing – the first major overhaul in over 70 years. This law authorizes the FDA to write new food safety rules that will affect all farmers. The FDA has released proposed rules and now it's up to us, the farming community, to let them know how it stacks up against our needs and abilities.

Have no doubt – there's a lot at stake here. These rules will affect every farm and the cost of compliance could be huge.
