During the 2014-2015 academic year, scholars from across the university will meet regularly to share work centered around the topic of how ideas influence the world. The colloquium invites scholars to come together to discuss and share their research and writing on a wide range of issues related to our theme-- for example, the nature of ideas, ideas and intellectual property, ideology creation and exchange, the power of ideas to shape social, artistic, scientific and religious movements, etc. All disciplines are welcome!

Participants are invited to workshop project ideas and writing in-progress. The colloquium will be a place where the participants can make connections, recognizing common methods and differences across disciplines. Prior to each meeting, one of the participants will be asked to circulate a work-in-progress, as well as a short piece from their discipline that helps shape or illuminate their understanding of power of ideas and ideology to shape human events. At the meetings, the featured researcher will give a brief introduction to the works and then the group will discuss the pieces. Colloquium topics from previous years include: Place, Collective Memory and Education.
