Want to be a "big sister" to a colonist at Rutgers University?

The role of a big sister should be to model the cardinal principles of Omega Phi Alpha: friendship, leadership, and service, and she should teach her little sister about the three cardinal principles. When a strong tie is formed between the big sister and little sister, both will experience the deeper meaning of sisterhood in O Phi A. Their role will be just the same as if their little was in their chapter, but they will have to work a harder creating a bond long distance. Also, it is preferred that big sisters travel to New Brunswick, New Jersey for the colony's induction ceremony in Spring 2015.

General duties:
- A big sister should closely monitor the progress of her little sister in meeting the national requirements.
- A big sister should mentor her little sister in her process leading up to activation.
- A big sister should be available to talk with the colonist as often as possible.
- A big sister should be available to aid in the preparation for the national test.
- A big sister should provide encouragement throughout the colonization process. If the colonist does an outstanding job on something (tests, service hours, etc.), the big sister should reward her with compliments and praise.
- A big sister should provide one on one education about the history and traditions of Omega Phi Alpha.
- A colonist should be able to rely on her big sister for support if a difficult situation arises during colonization.
- A big sister should get to know the colonist by showing interest in her personal information. In the initial pairing of the colonist and active sister, consideration should be given to persons who are compatible with each other.
- A big sister should continue to assist her little sister even after her activation. Assist your little sister in finding her niche in the chapter by helping her get involved and take on new responsibilities. An involved sister will be motivated about being a member of the sorority and will be more apt to stay active.

Please complete this survey by April 23rd, 2014. Big/little pairings will be assigned after that. Pairings will be assigned on a first come first served basis.
