Feedback on Student Grading Period
As we work together to meet the instructional and academic needs of our students, it is important that we make decisions that are focused on our school division's goals and our beliefs. We are currently in the process of building an instructional calendar that will allow our students to acquire the skills, knowledge, and opportunities that we value in order for our school division's students to be competitive in a global community. Parents, staff, and citizens in multiple settings, (system efficiency action planning team, Superintendent's Leadership Team), have identified a need to build an instructional calendar based on a 9 week grading period. Members of these groups have referenced multiple instructional benefits as well as resource efficiencies that will be gained from a change. The nine-week calendar would contain four grading periods during the school year with a student progress report for all students at approximately the mid-point of each grading period. To help us be successful in communicating student progress throughout each grading period, we are asking for your input.
