FE Guild

The Independent Review Panel on Professionalism in Further Education, led by The Lord Lingfield, reported in October 2012. Their conclusions “are intended to help create an environment in which the professionalism of further education lecturers, instructors, workplace supervisors and assessors might naturally flourish without interference.” The review described how the setting up of an FE Guild would enhance the status of FE by providing a single body to set professional standards and codes of behaviour, as well as developing qualifications. They will be working together, including where appropriate BIS, to ensure that the potential impact of setting up the FE Guild upon existing organisations, such as LSIS, is understood and managed effectively. The precise remit of the FE Guild has yet to be decided, but will be the subject of consultation early in the New Year.
